The “Yummy” quilt top is now complete! All I have to do is piece together the backing. This is not a favorite task for me because I like to match the repeat. The long arm quilt shop is closed for two weeks during the holiday. So… I am hoping to get it ready for quilting come early January 2016.
Last Christmas my sister made me a fleece blanket for the holiday. She had a leftover strip of fleece that I used for the backing on some beautiful Christmas mug rugs for my friend, Loon.
Last Thanksgiving my Mom picked out a pattern and fabric for a table runner, centerpiece and placemats. The pattern is Spirals (#152) from Designs to Share. I had to put two modified centerpieces together to create the size table runner that would fit my Mom’s sideboard. The centerpiece will be the 19 1/2″ size and I will need to create an extra small size for the placemats.
It was a low budget Christmas for us this year. We always celebrate on Christmas Eve with a buffet. I usually leave the toy giving for the grandkids to their Mom and Dad and Aunt and Uncle. The grandkids received a new pillow with a hand-made pillowcase along with a new pair of PJ’s. They both got a zip-up fleece jacket, and a charm bracelet for Ellie and a Lego kit for Troy. Our daughters and son-in-laws received a board game, Settlers of Catan, and socks. My hubby received a new pillowcase. I, of course, received a Holiday Barbie and a Danielle Steel novel. Yeah!
Gifted Geometric (top) to Michelle/Hedgehog&Dinosaur (middle) to Troy/Fairies&Princess (bottom) to Ellie
Gifted Flowers to Linda
Gifted Plaid to Mike
Gifted Peppermint Candy to me!
My granddaughter always says XOXO when she hangs up the phone. The 3-D bowtie blocks are perfect for this quilt! I am going to use the perfect fleece for this quilt instead of a cotton backing. I am just trying to decide whether to also use batting and how to quilt it. More to come…
Somewhere I lost the pillowcases for our youngest daughter’s room. I had used them in the motorhome this past January and July however the motorhome is now in Tennessee so I could not look for them. We had our friends stay the night so I had a whip up a pair with some fabric I had purchased during the 2015 Row by Row shopping spree. I also made pillowcases for our oldest daughter’s room too.
We have been very busy getting our house ready to sell so there has been little sewing and quilting happening this summer and fall. I did manage to make an “Evil Queen” costume for my granddaughter and also sew circles on a tule skirt for our daughter. Our grandson was a gladiator this year. His costume was purchased from the local Costco and it was a nice compliment to her costume. I just love Halloween for the dress-up and these two were great at role playing.
